Custom House, Our House:

A Community Archive of Regeneration, Power and Collective Voices

(Jessie Brennan, 2025)

This book captures over two decades of community-led resistance to gentrification in Custom House, East London. Through 12 oral history interviews and commissioned photography, residents, shopkeepers, and stakeholders share stories of activism, negotiation, and belonging.

A research, knowledge-sharing, and heritage project, it reflects the power of community memory and participatory methods in shaping urban regeneration. Custom House, Our House stands as both an archive and a call to action—demonstrating how local agency can challenge top-down development and imagine more just urban futures.
